Tuan Wong Kah Woh, Deputy Minister of Education, announced that the project for Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Gopeng, which had dilapidated buildings classified as scale seven, had been approved under the 13th Malaysia Plan (First Rolling Plan) within the current budget, with a scope to demolish three blocks.
SJK(T) Gopeng is set to receive a new three-storey building under a RM14.5mil government-approved redevelopment project to replace its dilapidated main block, which suffered from termite infestation and structural deterioration. The project, expected to begin by year-end and complete by end-2028, will include six classrooms, administrative offices, a science lab, and a Design and Technology workshop, with temporary modular classrooms provided during construction.
The Deputy Education Minister announced that school administrators are permitted to temporarily close schools if temperatures exceed 37 degrees Celsius for three consecutive days, in line with KPM guidelines. This statement was made during a working visit to SJK(T) Gopeng, emphasizing student health and safety during extreme heat. Schools are also advised to halt all outdoor activities if temperatures reach 35-37 degrees Celsius for three days.
