The MP requested the government to prioritize improving infrastructure and equipment for all schools, including Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) schools. The MP also inquired about the construction status of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Sungai Bakap and congratulated the Minister on the Prime Minister's announcement regarding the construction of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Ladang Jeram, which had been abandoned for approximately 20 years.
The MP congratulated the government on the announcement of the construction of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Ladang Jeram in Budget 2026 and asked when the project would commence and what facilities would be provided. He also inquired about the Ministry of Education Malaysia's plans to upgrade other dilapidated Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) schools and the relocation process for under-enrolled schools.
Tuan Wong Kah Woh, as Deputy Minister of Education, provided an update on the new Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) SJK(T) Ladang Jeram in Kuantan, Pahang. He stated that the Ministry of Education (KPM) was preparing initial works for the school on a three-acre federal land, which would include six classrooms and other facilities, with an allocation ceiling of RM22 million, as previously announced in the 2026 Budget.
The MP advocated for fixed and transparent funding for all school types, including Tamil-medium national-type schools SJK(T). He thanked the Prime Minister for a commitment to rebuild SJK(T) Ladang Jeram in Pahang but also highlighted that construction for SJK(T) Sungai Bakap and SJK(T) Serendah remained stalled, and many SJK(T)s nationwide were in a dilapidated (daif) condition requiring urgent attention.
The MP highlighted the successful construction of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Ladang Jeram, where students had previously studied in containers for 20 years, praising the current government's action and criticising the previous administration for not addressing the issue.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) has reaffirmed its commitment to resolving long-standing issues for Tamil national-type schools (SJKT), focusing on new construction and infrastructure improvements. Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh highlighted progress on SJKT Sungai Bakap in Penang, SJKT Ladang Jeram in Kuantan, Pahang (fully funded under 13MP), and resolved issues for SJKT Ladang Sagga in Rantau, Negeri Sembilan, and SJKT Ladang Sungai Reyla in Sungai Siput, Perak. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek also assured that no vernacular schools, including SJKT, will be closed.
The Cabinet has approved funds for new buildings for SJK(T) Ladang Jeram near Kuantan, Pahang, after a 25-year wait. The funds will be allocated in Budget 2026, with construction expected to start next year to replace temporary cabins. This development is anticipated to improve facilities for its 43 pupils and potentially increase enrolment to 100 new pupils annually.
