Datuk Aaron Ago anak Dagang discussed vernacular schools, affirming their place under the social contract and as part of the nation's unity and diversity.

The Minister of National Unity, Datuk Aaron Ago anak Dagang, reported that a study by the National Unity Consultative Council (MKPN) identified vernacular schools as one of the key challenges affecting national unity.

Datuk Aaron Ago anak Dagang explained that vernacular schools, including Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) for the Indian community, Chinese-medium national-type schools (SJK(C)), and national schools (SK) for the Malay community, were established historically due to leaders considering the requests of various ethnic groups to ensure harmony and stability. He also noted the unsuccessful "Sekolah Wawasan" initiative.
